Riverdale – AGM Notice, Elections, Team Updates

Hi Riverdale,

This email contains a notice of our Annual General Meeting, information on the nomination period for executive elections and updates as year-end approaches.

AGM Notice:

Please be advised that the annual Riverdale Annual General Meeting will take place following our year-end banquet at the Courtyard Marriott on May 8, 2022 (banquet starting at 6 p.m.)

Updated financials, any election information and an agenda will be shared by email with members no later than May 1.

Executive Elections – Nomination Period Open:

The election nomination period for the 2022-23 executive is now open, and will close at 11:59 p.m. on April 30. As Darren Sutherland will not be running for a position on the executive next season, he will be the Election Coordinator for this year.

This year, we are asking that, rather than speeches at the AGM, candidates submit short written statements (no more than one page) about why they are running for a position. This is not mandatory, but will help introduce candidates to the membership in advance of any vote. These statements are due to Darren before the close of the nomination period so that they can be included in the AGM package that will be sent out on May 1.

If you are interested in joining the executive, you can self-nominate using this form: https://toronto.gaycurl.ca/executive-committee-nominations/

As a reminder, positions on the executive are:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Drawmaster
  • External Relations
  • Member Relations
  • Events Coordinator
  • Webmaster

Elections for executive positions will be held at our AGM. If only one person puts their name forward for any position, that position will be acclaimed at the AGM. See our league constitution and our bylaws for more information on the responsibilities of each position, or talk to any member of the Executive.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the executive or directly to Darren in his role as Election Coordinator.

Update Team List:

As playoffs approach, please review the Team List and ensure that if there have been any changes to your team over the course of the past year they are reflected on the list. Spare rules during playoffs are stricter than during the regular season – all spares must be registered as league members or fifth players.

Team update requests can be sent to riverdale@gaycurl.ca

If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the executive.

Thank you!

Edward Dodd
