Written by As you may be aware, we had some issues with capturing enough DIOTI bonspiel registrations to build a suitable waitlist to replace teams that qualify for the Canadian Pride Curling Championship. We made some changes to the registration process to make it more open and transparent, and in doing so created some unintentional problems for ourselves.
In the initial rush once we realized our mistake, emails started coming in and it was decided to use those to build an initial waitlist. Obviously this was not open and transparent, and left many people who were all trying to register at the correct time without a fair chance to get onto the waitlist.
After much discussion, the Executive has decided that starting the waitlist process over is the fairest and most equitable way to go. Registration for the waitlist will open now, and remain open until midnight on January 5, 2026. Only one registration per team will be allowed. On January 11th, 2026 at the end of Riverdale curling, we will randomly draw teams to designate their order on the waitlist. At this time we expect there to be 3 openings in the bonspiel to be filled with this waitlist, but that remains subject to change.
