Hi Riverdale,
We’re pleased to announce that Riverdale Curling League registration for the 2023-24 season is officially open until August 31!
Please read this email carefully as we have substantially adjusted the registration and payment processes this season.
We’ve changed the way we are running registration this year to lessen the amount of work that needs to be done behind the scenes, to make it more inviting for those interested in joining, and to increase transparency. We expended an unworkable amount of energy chasing people for waivers and payments, so this year each prospective member must complete these steps by the deadlines below to ensure your participation in 2023-24.
To register, one player from your team should fill out the Team Registration Form, which collects just the names and email addresses of your teammates. Each player will then be automatically emailed a link to complete their Riverdale Waiver and Contact Information Form. Teams will be prioritized for acceptance into the league based on the number of returning members, then the timestamp of the third player’s waiver received from your team. That is, once three of your teammates have completed their Waiver and Contact Information Form, your team will be prioritised for acceptance into the league as described below. Make sure your team submits their waivers as soon as possible!
Teams with four or three returning members will be confirmed first. Teams with two or fewer returning members from last season are able to register, but will be added to our waitlist in the order explained in the following diagram. The league will contact waitlisted teams no later than September 8 to confirm their entry in the league.
Changing how we interact with new members
Over the years, some people have found it difficult to get into the league. We’ve made some changes to improve the experience of prospective members. Individuals are now invited to register using the Riverdale Waiver and Contact Information Form to indicate interest in joining the league. While there is no guarantee of a place on a team, we will help facilitate matching individuals to teams and helping form new ones. If you know of people interested in joining the league, please send them this link: https://forms.gle/Zt1RLgJQqChBb3qB9
2023-24 Fees:
We are changing the way that fees are collected this season to match the fact that our league is a “team entry” league and to simplify the administrative work required to collect fees.
For this season, we are asking all teams to send one payment for all members of the team at once.
Recognizing that this is a change from previous seasons, if you have questions or would like to discuss alternative payment arrangements, please reach out directly to our Treasurer, Raynie Stubbs, at Treasurer@pridecurl.ca.
Fees this season per team have slightly increased to cover increased ice costs as set by the club. The fees for 2023-24 are as follows:
Team of 4: $1,680 ($420 per person vs. $395 per person in 2022-23)
Team of 5 $1,785 ($105 for a fifth vs. $85 for a fifth in 2022-23)
Team of 6: $1,890 ($105 per fifth player)
We calculated fees this season based on increased ice costs from the Royals and an additional Sunday of curling due to the way the calendar works this season (21 game days instead of 20). We have also decided this season to smooth the cost increase using fundraising profits from last season, so that the increase is not as substantial as it could have been.
Instructions on payment methods will be included once your team registration is confirmed by the Vice President of the league, no later than September 8. Payment will be due September 15, 2023, unless alternative arrangements are made with the Treasurer.

To Register a team:
- Have only one member of your team complete the 2023-24 Team Registration Form (https://toronto.pridecurl.ca/2023-riverdale-registration/).
- You will receive an automated response acknowledging the receipt of your registration form, and each player will be emailed a link to the individual waiver and contact information form. Only once at least three of your teammates have filled out the individual registration form, will your team be considered provisionally registered and be added to the league or waitlist.
- We will follow up with confirmation your team is in the League by no later than September 8, 2023, and payment instructions will be included. To minimise our bank fees and eliminate chasing after second half fees, payment instructions have changed significantly. Teams experiencing financial difficulty may contact the Treasurer, Raynie Stubbs, at Treasurer@pridecurl.ca to discuss payment options.
- Team payment must be received by no later than September 15, 2023, to finalise membership in the league and ensure your team’s spot.
- If your team has 2 or fewer returning members, you will receive a confirmation of acceptance into the league by September 8 – based on availability of team spots and pending payment.
